PageRank? Alexa?
Posted on January 27th, 2008 @ 11:37 am

I wish there was a fair way to rank sites outside of Google PageRank and Alexa. If you try to make money off of your site Google punishes you. Why? Yahoo needs to come out with something. I know Google and Yahoo are always flipping back and forth for the number one spot. Right now Yahoo’s PageRank and Alexa is higher than Google’s. I love Yahoo. I love Google too. I can honestly say that I use Yahoo Search more than Google’s because I think it’s more user friendly. I also like going to the front page and reading the stuff they have up there. Most of the time it’s interesting. I love Gmail and Google Reader. I love Yahoo Messenger and Flickr. Both companies have great things to offer. Yahoo has been around for a little while longer but it seems like people talk about Google more. As long as I’m able to get what I need from them they’re both cool in my book.

I just think it would be interesting if Yahoo came out with a PageRank system. I also think it would be fairer. Yahoo doesn’t have a big ad campaign and you don’t see them bringing in the money from bloggers and site owners. They might actually let us make money with our site and rank us at the same time.

I’m happy with all of my sites at the moment. I hardly ever feel that way. I have 4 sites and I’m not one to keep the themes and whatnot fresh but I’ve actually been doing it lately. I feel like my sites are doing well and instead of being awarded for that, I’m being punished. I also could use any extra earnings given my financial situation.

Movie Posters
Posted on January 27th, 2008 @ 10:50 am

I worked at a video store for a lot of years so of course I’ve seen so many movie posters come and go. Out of my time being there I only took one poster and that was the Fantastic 4 poster. I really wanted the Happy Feet and Dreamgirls posters but of course those two movies came out when the company went on a movie poster hiatus. The posters at my store were cool because they’re usually taller than I am. But realistically what am I going to do with a poster that big? Stick it up on my wall? Yeah…right! I did find a site with some cool original movie posters. I’m going to check it out and see if they have some of the posters I’ve been dying to get.

Migraines
Posted on January 27th, 2008 @ 10:44 am

I’ve suffered from migraines since I was a small child. The doctors haven’t been able to figure out the cause. At first they thought it was because I needed glasses, and that did help…my vision but I still came home with headaches. My migraines were terrible about 3 years ago. They’ve finally settled down. I still have a migraine every now and again but not as often as I used to.

Selling Your Business?
Posted on January 27th, 2008 @ 10:40 am

I often forget that people who own small businesses have the option of selling their business. You may have buyers if your business is successful and brings in a lot of money. I just figure why would you want to sell your business if it’s doing good? I guess you can get out while you can. Some people look forward to retiring and spending time with their families so why not sell your business when it’s in its prime? You should contact a Business valuation consultant before you make any deals so you can see what your business is really worth. Who knows, maybe you can sell it for more than you thought you could!

I Want An HDTV
Posted on January 27th, 2008 @ 10:35 am

When I get my own place I plan on getting a good entertainment system and hopefully an HDTV since that seems to be the thing of the future. Why invest money in a good TV if it’s not HD? I’ll also need to by some HDMI splitters so I can extend my cable signal from the outlet to the television just in case I decide to put my TV in a location away from the outlet.

A Helping Hand
Posted on January 27th, 2008 @ 10:29 am

I’ve been in a financial bind lately. It’s hard living paycheck to paycheck especially when you don’t know when that next paycheck will arrive. I’ve been thinking about getting a payday loann if my situation gets worse. My rent is due in a few days, I’m running low on food, I’ve been paying my bills late trying to manage and maxing out all of my credit cards. Hopefully the storm will end soon.

American Idol Rundown - Charleston
Posted on January 23rd, 2008 @ 9:14 pm

So…Charleston surely did bring out the pairs. The couple that met on the Idol message boards was a no-go but the siblings were refreshing and funny.

The “Before He Cheats” segment was actually funny. I seriously had to laugh at I’m gonna skip the rest of this verse and go into the next verse where it goes like…*pulls out paper and proceeds to read the paper* Oh, and the girl who said “I’m gonna take out my bat and bash out all his windows, tear out all his seats and throw them out the window, take my keys and write my name in it and jump up and down and crush the hood like he crushed my heart” in place of Carrie Underwoods lyrics.

Basically the South Carolina auditions were filled with a bunch of delusional people. Not only could they not sing but when Simon called them out on it they proceeded to go off.

At the beginning of the show (day 1) the first guy in line had to leave so his wife could have her baby. At the end of the episode (day 2) they brought the baby with them to the audition. I didn’t know you could be released from the hospital that fast and walking around like nothing happened. She’s a good one. I would be in the hospital or at home resting somewhere.

Overall 23 contestants from Charleston, SC will be going to Hollywood, CA. No one really *stood out* to me in today’s episode. Hopefully they’ll be more talent on the next episode.

Next week Idol returns in Omaha, Nebraska. Things should be interesting because Paula leaves and Ryan judges for a portion of the show. Don’t forget to tune in and come her for the rundown.

American Idol Rundown - San Diego
Posted on January 22nd, 2008 @ 9:20 pm

Now this is my idol! I really enjoyed the show tonight. I feel like the people who made it through tonight were actually good so it made watching the auditions worth while. A few of the bad people were funny too, like the girl who thought she could sing like Mariah Carey. I mean, come on…and that last note! She know she was wrong. And the other lady who sung about 50 different songs thinking it would make her sound better…and her friend. He wasn’t any better. They deserve each other.

I’m keeping an eye on Samantha and Carly for sure. David seems like a sweet kid also so he may last a while. There was this guy at the beginning with a 4 year old cutie so I wanna see how he does as well. 30 people from San Diego made it to Hollywood! The show was only an hour today but it seems like more talent came out in Cali than Philly.

Tomorrow Idol is going to tha dirrty south…South Carolina that is.

Now I Get It
Posted on January 22nd, 2008 @ 9:16 pm

I never knew how great casinos were until a month ago to date. On December 22nd I was able to go to the casino with my mom. Detroit is like the 2nd Las Vegas. We have 4 casinos and there are also casinos across the water in Canada. So if you want to live in a state that has all 4 seasons as well as casinos then Detroit is the place to be.

I used to wonder what people got out of the online casino scene. I was never a gambler but after playing the slot machines it gives you this rush. You feel like you can’t stop. You just want to win..win…win! Well, online casinos exist because they give you that rush in the comfort of your own home.

If you’re not lucky enough to live in Vegas, AC or Detroit then you don’t get to go to the casinos as often as you like. Gambling online is the next best thing because you don’t have to plan a trip, spend money on plane tickets, hotels and you don’t have to take off time from work.

I Need A Shopping Cart
Posted on January 22nd, 2008 @ 9:10 pm

I have so many things I want to get rid of. I think my best option is selling those things online. Sometimes the fees on ebay are an annoyance because if your stuff doesn’t sell you still have to pay. This is why having your own shopping cart for your site can be helpful. You’d only have to pay monthly fees to securely host your shopping cart.

Ashop is a web-based online store and no installation is required. With Ashop Commerce you can accept credit cards online from your buyers and the design of your shop is fully customizable.

Ashop Commerce is a leading provider of hosted shopping cart software. So if you have things that you want to sell such as books, clothes, jewelry, artwork or anything then you can create a store for your customers to purchase your items securely. You shouldn’t be stuck with doing all the work and Ashop makes that statement true.
